A French ormolu, ivory, and alabaster hinged box, circa 1900. The piece features the bust of a young girl crafted from carved ivory, with an ormolu bonnet. The hinged box sits atop of an alabaster footing which is neatly secured to the ormolu. The piece is signed 'Marquet' for French maker Rene Marquet (1875-1939), who is known for his bronze works with ivory. The detail in this French box is exceptional and would be a beautiful object to sit on a desk or dressing table.
