An important pair of bronze figures by the Baule People of Cote d'Ivoire, East Africa depicting a seated King holding a staff and Queen holding a bird and knife. The bronze has developed an attractive, oxidised patina since its production in the late 19th century. The pair are extremely heavy and each retain their individual bronze seat. A monumental pair of Eastern African bronzes, perhaps the finest we have seen.
Each measures: 60cm H x 16cm W
