French Retro Period Platinum, Pearl, and Diamond Drop Earrings

An exceptional pair of platinum, diamond and South Sea Pearl Retro period clip earrings. The ear-clips are in the form of sweeping swirls which when positioned on the ear glide up the earlobe toward the top of the ear. The platinum components of the clips are set with single and brilliant cut diamonds of G/H colour and SI clarity totalling 0.97 carat. The central swirl of the clips is ribbed and textured which gives a wonderful contrast to the bright sparkle of the diamonds. To the bottom sit on each clip an articulated bell cap setting which contain a South Sea pearl. The clips each have two marks to the rear, one a French standard platinum mark and the other unidentified. We date this pair of clips to the mid 20th century at the height of the Retro period and whilst approaching 70 years old they are as effortlessly chic now as they were then.
