In the world of French jewellery there are a few names that collectors look for, one of those is Rene Boivin. Crafted from 18 karat yellow gold and ebony, this five piece dress set dates to the mid 20th century as was crafted by the house of Boivin. The set comprise a pair of matched cufflinks and three smaller dress studs of the same pattern. Each piece is like a 'wrapped' square of ebony timber with twisted gold wire acting as the ribbon. The cufflinks each terminate with a chain and dumbbell type fitting while the three dress studs have a spring butterfly type closure to the rear. Both cufflinks are marked 'R.BOIVIN' to the rear and are stamped with the French eagle head gold purity mark while the dress studs also feature the very small Boivin 'poinçon' hallmark. The set are in very good condition for their age and feature very few signs of use and wear. A beautiful gift for a son graduating university or an excellent addition to a collection of cufflinks.
