Crafted from 18 karat rose gold, this bracelet is what we refer to as a 'tank' bracelet and was likely crafted in the 1940s. The hefty piece comprises rows of rose gold 'domes' which when massed together give the appearance of a war tank tread, hence the name 'tank' bracelet. These bracelets were popularised in the 1940s in the wake of World War II when jewellery had a distinct machinist quality, with bracelets referencing heavy machinery. This particular piece terminates with a tongue and box clasp and two figure of eight safety catches which are both working well and are secure. There is a rubbed mark for '18K' to the rear of the clasp which makes us believe it is likely that it originated in the United States as opposed to France where many 'tank' bracelets were made during this period. Weighing just shy of 90 grams, this piece is literally worth its weight in gold and would make a lovely addition to a collection of Retro period jewellery.
