Ruskin Pottery Iridescent Orange Glazed Vase

This rouleau shaped vase was made by the esteemed English ceramics firm, Ruskin Pottery. The vase has been finished with a mottled iridescent orange glaze which has a jaffa colour quality to it, and is stamped to the underside for manufacture by Ruskin along with it having a date mark for 1916. The vase is in very good order for its age with no apparent chips or cracks and only some minor staining to the inside commensurate with age and use. The glaze on this particular piece varies throughout with some areas more of a matte finish while others are more iridescent, making it exceedingly interesting to look at from different angles. Manufactured near Birmingham, Ruskin Pottery is a perfect example of Arts & Crafts period design, with the pieces designed by Edward R. Taylor and his son William Howson Taylor. Remarkably after Ruskin was closed in the 1930s, William Howson Taylor destroyed his glaze records so that pieces could not be replicated. A stellar example of Ruskin Pottery from the Arts & Crafts glory days.
