Description

This set of four sterling silver champagne flutes were made for retail by Cartier during the second half of the 20th century. The set which are crafted from solid sterling silver feature to the top of each flute a 'Trinity' style band in gold plate, referencing the famous Cartier 'Trinity' ring. The set are from the 'Les Must De Cartier' collection which was introduced in 1973, while we date this sets manufacture circa 1980. The Trinity design was first introduced by Louis Cartier in 1924 and was designed as three interlocking bands of white, yellow and rose gold. The design has been used by the jewellery house not only in jewellery but in homewares and even eyewear. Each of these flutes does show signs of wear in the form of slight abrasions to the silver and some losses to the plating of the bands, commensurate with age and use. There is very very minor warping to the stems of the flutes which is barely noticeable unless closely examined. Not only are these beautifully crafted but the health benefits of drinking from sterling silver are an added bonus.
