This three piece sterling silver coffee set was designed by Sigvard Bernadotte and manufactured by Georg Jensen. The elongated set is known as pattern '967' and is one of the more scarce designs by Sigvard Bernadotte, accented with a woven (presumably plastic) handle to insulate it for service. Sigvard Bernadotte was the son of Gustav VI of Sweden, and later aunt to Queen Margarethe of Denmark. When he married a woman 'of unequal rank' in 1934 he lost his titles and became simply known as 'Mr Bernadotte'. Known for his design skills he worked designing for Georg Jensen for many years but also designed eyewear and even a typewriter. The three piece set is in lovely condition and is fully hallmarked for post 1945 Georg Jensen manufacture. An excellent example of elegant Danish design by one of its most notable designers.
