Description
This very modern looking teapot was made in London by the well regarded makers, The Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Company. The sterling silver body is very much in the Art Deco style with very little ornamentation or decoration except a beaded rim to the top of the piece. The teapot features very crisp hallmarks for London manufacture in 1936, the year of the abdication, and has a bakelite handle and knop which are a deep brown colour. The Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Company were extremely well regarded and merged with Garrard, the then Crown jeweller, in the 1950s. The teapot presents in good condition and has recently been cleaned and polished by our silversmith, ready for regular use. A delightful piece of Art Deco silver which is just as modern today as it was in 1936.
