Description
Crafted from sterling silver this collar dates to the Victorian period. The fancy-link collar has a wonderful 'star punch' motif which is part of every link and is integrated into the design. The collar terminates with what appears to be an original bolt ring clasp which is working well and secure. The collar can be worn either as a stand alone piece or can be worn with the clasp to the front with a silver locket attached, which is typically how these Victorian collars were worn. This piece is not particularly heavy in its construction however has been beautifully made and was most likely crafted in the last quarter of the 19th century. The piece presents in good overall condition however does have some small dents and knocks to the links, commensurate with age and use. A gorgeous example of Victorian silver jewellery.
