Description

This knockout aquamarine ring has been mounted in 18 karat white gold and is a great example of a bold cocktail ring. The very large aquamarine is classed as being 'moderately bright mid blue very lightly included' and is best described as being a fancy cut kite shape, weighing approximately 39.50 carat. The monumental stone is set with two v caps and two side claws securing it in its 18 karat white gold mount which has been completely hand made. Whilst it is hard to be sure of the age and origin of the ring due to the fact is in unmarked, it is very likely a piece that dates to the mid 20th century when cocktail rings of this size were popular, especially during the 1960s and 1970s. The piece is reminiscent of the enormous cocktail rings which English poet Edith Sitwell was famous for wearing, often several at a time on the same finger. A really knockout aquamarine ring which is sure to be a conversation starter when worn.

Ring Size - 55/O/7.25

Marked - unmarked but tests as 18 karat white gold

Total weight of piece - 16.12 grams

Independent appraisal values the piece at $28,500.
