Description
This very useable crystal bowl was made by the famed Czech glassmaker, Moser. The bowl which is made from lead free crystal is in the 'Splendid' pattern which was first introduced by Leo Moser in 1911. The pattern features an ornate 24 karat gilt rim which sits atop of a very intricate cut crystal body and has been made in a variety of shapes and sizes throughout its history. The Splendid pattern has been a staple among some of the world's finest dining rooms for decades with the Czechoslovak president gifting the late Queen Elizabeth II a selection of Splendid crystal for her wedding in 1947. From the typography of the Moser signature to the underside we can ascertain that the piece was crafted post 1992, when Czechoslovakia became the Czech Republic. In near immaculate condition the bowl appears to have rarely been used and presents with no chips or cracks, and only some minor wear to the underside, commensurate with age and use. A really gorgeous piece of Moser crystal which would be delightful filled with prawns for a Christmas buffet.
Marked - 'Moser' acid etched to the underside
