Impressive Platinum and Diamond Toi et Moi Ring

This rather impressive double stone ring as been set with two cushion cut diamonds. The handmade platinum mount likely dates to the first quarter of the 20th century, circa 1915, and has been set with two substantial diamonds. The pierced galleries hold one antique cushion cut diamond of H colour and VS1 clarity weighing 2.55 carat, and is paired with a second antique cushion cut diamond of H colour and SI1 clarity totalling 2.46 carat. The two diamonds are graded as having medium blue fluorescence and have 'minute' chips to the girdle commensurate with age and use. These girdle chips are so minor that a jeweller's loupe is required to see them, and they are not noticeable to the naked eye. The ring is in a style known as 'toi et moi', French for 'you and me', and is often given as a gift on engagement or to mark a special occasion between a couple. The ring is completely unmarked, so it is hard to say where it originated, however is likely European given its style. This remarkable ring is in exceptionally fine, unaltered, and original condition. We will have the ring resized and the diamond claws 're tipped' for the new owner to ensure it not only fits perfectly, but also ensures the diamonds are securely set.
