René Lalique 'Piriac' Vase Circa 1930

This piece of beautiful Lalique was manufactured during René Lalique's lifetime and is in the pattern known as 'Piriac'. The piece takes the form of a flared trumpet shape vase and is decorated toward the base with a band of stylised fish atop of waves. The fish and the waves have an applied blue patina which Lalique was known for during the Art Deco period. The vase was first designed in 1930, and is signed 'R LALIQUE FRANCE' to the underside which indicates it was manufactured before his death in 1945, giving its time of manufacture a 15 year window. The name 'Piriac' is a reference to the fishing town of Piriac-sur-Mer in Brittany, France which Lalique was intending to reference. This particular example is in very good condition throughout with no cracks or major chips, and only some very slight wear to the base and bottom edges commensurate with age and use. There are a couple of small air bubbles within the vase, from the time of manufacture, however these are not considered a defect or flaw. A truly very beautiful example of Lalique from the firm's most important period!
