Description
This sterling silver necklace is a design by Danish jeweller and silversmith, Georg Jensen. The necklace is known as pattern '15', and by the mark to the rear of one of the links we can ascertain that it was made between 1933 and 1944. The necklace is crafted from hollow links which have a naturalistic floral design as much of the early Georg Jensen did. The necklace is fully signed to the rear for manufacture by Georg Jensen, has the pattern number noted and notes it is crafted from sterling silver. The necklace terminates with a toggle style clasp which is possibly a later replacement, as other examples show a tongue and box closure. Curiously two of the floral motif links are intentionally curved to the back (as seen in the rear image), and the necklace is slightly longer than other examples indicating that perhaps a matched bracelet has been added to extend its length at some stage in its life. In very good antique condition the necklace shows the usual signs of wear from age and use, however has many more decades of enjoyment remaining for its new custodian.
