Description
Crafted from sterling silver, this candelabra is distinctly modern in its design and was crafted by the Danish maker Georg Jensen. The piece is known as model 1075 and was designed by the famed Danish artist and designer, Henning Koppel (1918-1981). Koppel designed pieces for Georg Jensen from 1946 and this particular 'candelabrum' as it is referred to was first conceived in 1958, with this example likely dating to the later part of the 20th century. The handmade candelabrum has places for three taper candles and its design prevents wax from falling onto the table in that it is constructed with flared bases for the candles to sit in. Fully signed to the underside, the piece has marks for Georg Jensen, Henning Koppel and sterling silver, along with the pattern number 1075. The candelabrum presents in very good overall condition with no major areas of note and only minor abrasions to the silver finish, commensurate with age and use. An iconic piece of Jensen silver by perhaps their most notable designer of the 20th century.
