This pair of 18 karat gold and coral drop earrings are High Victorian in terms of their age and appearance and are a beautiful example of 19th century craftsmanship. The pair each centre on an oval cameo of a woman carved from natural coral which has been framed in an elaborate 18 karat gold setting that has been oxidised in areas to bring out the brightness of the gold. To the bottom of the cameo medallions hang three carved coral drops which sway with the movement of the wearer. To affix to the ear the pair are fitted with yellow gold shepherd's hooks which have been XRF tested as a low karat gold, likely 9 karat. Due to their clever construction the pair are not particularly heavy, meaning they will be comfortable on the ear. Such a beautifully crafted pair of Victorian earrings which would compliment an array of ensembles both during the day, and at night.
