The most requested thing by visitors to our store is signet rings. This English signet is a beautiful example and could be worn by men and women, traditionally on the left pinky finger. Crafted from 18 karat yellow gold, the very simple ring features an engraved crest depicting a lion and dates to the 1950s. When we acquired the ring it was quite a small size so we decided to have it sized up to accomodate a larger audience. Thankfully we took images of the hallmarks prior to the resizing, as due to their location on the ring they were disturbed and are no longer clear. We can confidently say the ring was made in London in 1953, the year of the late Queen's coronation, and was manufactured by Lawson, Ward & Gammage. In the listing there are images of the hallmarks both before and after resizing. Unfortunately we have been unable to identify the crest which is engraved on the ring, however it is very sympathetic to the piece and echoes what is traditionally engraved on a signet ring. A beautiful piece which could be worn by a lady or by a gentleman on his pinky.
