This unusual and rare piece by Georg Jensen is known as a folding doctor's spoon. Designed as a double ended spoon, one end is designed to be a child's dose of medicine, the other for an adult. The handle of the spoon is signed for Georg Jensen with the markings helping us date its manufacture to between 1925 and 1932. To the back of the spoon handle there is also an original monogram 'I.O'M' which likely dates to the first owner of the spoon. These doctor's spoons by Jensen are exceedingly rare with us unable to find any comparable examples on the market at present. With only minor wear and abrasions associated with age and use, this piece is exceedingly desirable for a collector of Jensen, or perhaps a nice gift for a student graduating medicine.
