This George III era demilune side table is crafted from mahogany and features mixed wood inlay and banding. The flip top table features gate legs to the rear which allow it to transform into a round card or occasional table which can seat four people comfortably. Each of the four straight legs are reeded and fluted and to the front there is an inlaid handled 'urn' which is neoclassical in taste and typical of the Sheraton style.

Sheraton style furniture was popular in England from circa 1790 to circa 1820 and is named after London designer and maker Thomas Sheraton (1751-1806). Largely neoclassical in taste, the Sheraton style was known for a 'light' and 'elegant' appearance and often incorporated swags, ribbons, urns and flowers into inlay, as seen in this example. Sheraton style pieces usually had straight legs as opposed to the cabriole legs of the earlier Queen Anne and Chippendale style pieces. This piece has been freshly restored and professionally re-polished by an expert antique furniture restorer.
