The deep blue enamel on the front and back of this German made snuff box almost feel like little swimming pools which you want to take a plunge in. Crafted from 900 purity (900/1000 parts pure silver) silver the snuff box was made by the firm Louis Kuppenheim which was founded in 1854, and features a gilt wash interior to prevent tarnish. The exterior of the box has been engine turned to the edges and the covers are finished with guilloche enamel in royal blue. There are several marks to the inside edges of the box including the monogram for Louis Kuppenheim who operated until 1939 when World War II broke out. There are some very minor knocks to the enamel in the edges, however these are extremely minor and not noticeable unless very closely inspected. The box would have likely been manufactured to be a snuff box and from the marks on this piece we believe it has been crafted in circa 1920. There is a Swedish import mark to the box which also indicates it was exported from Germany and into Sweden. A delightful piece for someone who has a collection of precious boxes, or a great place to store a precious relic.
