This exquisite pair of buttery gold ear clips were crafted by Greek jeweller Ilias Lalaounis in the 1970s. Cast as stylised seashells the pair have been crafted from 18 karat yellow gold including the clip fittings which retain all the hallmarks relevant to their manufacture. This pair which we date to circa 1978 feature a pre 1990s French import mark in the form of a weevil. Lalaounis opened their first Paris boutique in 1970, and are noted to have had a collection 'Seashells' as the 12th chronological collection in the 1970s out of 14 collections, giving us an approximate date of manufacture as circa 1978. Upon contacting the Ilias Lalaounis museum in Greece, it was confirmed that the ear clips date to circa 1978. Known for their beautiful craftsmanship and family links to the Greek jewellery house Zolotas, Ilias Lalaounis pieces are adored and acquired by collectors internationally. This pair of seashell ear clips are just one example of the quality of Lalaounis jewellery and are sure to be a delightful addition to a jewellery connoisseurs jewel box.
