This absolute knockout pair of Retro dress clips date to the 1940s and the tail end of World War II. Handcrafted from 14 karat yellow and white gold, the pair have been set with geometric sections of deep blue sapphires and icy white diamonds. Each of the diamonds, which vary between being baguette cut and old cut, are of G/H colour and VS-SI clarity totalling 2.60 carat. The sapphires range from being round cut and carre cut, are very likely Ceylonese, however they have not been tested for their origin. To the centre top of each clip is a carved 'man in the moon' which has been executed in either moonstone or labradorite and are a charming detail in these bold clips. To the rear of each clip is a hinged white gold double pin, allowing them to pierce through a garment, or clip over the edge of a suit jacket or neckline. Whilst the pair are unsigned, they test as being 14 karat gold indicating they were most likely manufactured in the United States, likely in the later 1940s. In exceedingly good order the pair are undoubtedly unique and would be a wonderful addition to a gentleman's lapel or clipped over the the neckline of an evening gown.
