A rare Sabino vase in molded black glass depicting birds in flight with gilt details. This unusual piece dates to the second half of the 1920s and was manufactured in Paris, France. Marius Ernest Sabino (1878-1961), a contemporary of Rene Lalique, was known for his opalescent glass creations, however, this black piece is exceedingly rare. Not only is this an unusual style for Sabino with opaque, black glass but with most of his creations being diminutive in size and for a mass market this vase, it seems, was a showpiece for a loftier clientele. Hand-signed to the underside, this incredible vase is a true collector's piece.
