Crafted from 18 karat yellow gold and set with black onyx and diamonds, these ear clips were made by famed French jeweller, Van Cleef & Arpels. The oval pieces of black onyx have been set with a central oval panel of 18 karat white gold set with round brilliant cut diamonds. Each of these diamonds are of E/F colour and VVS2-VS1 clarity totalling 26 pieces and 1.33 carat. The ear clips are each fitted with a yellow gold keyhole spring clip and are both working well and are secure. Signed to the rear for Van Cleef & Arpels, interestingly this pair of clips are also marked 'Italy'. It was not uncommon for some of the large jewellers like Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels to outsource some of their manufacturing to Italy especially during the mid to late 20th Century. This pair of ear clips were likely crafted in the 1970s or 1980s and are such a bold yet elegant look. In lovely condition with only some very minor nibbles to the onyx, commensurate with age and use.
