Each work is examined for period-consistent materials and technique, the character of the canvas, panel, or support, and the style and execution of the work itself. Attribution is assessed against documented works by the artist or school in question. Provenance — the documented history of ownership — is provided where available, and the absence of provenance is noted and contextualised rather than glossed over. For significant attributions, we seek specialist art historical assessment.

Yes. We arrange both domestic and international shipping for all works in the collection, working with specialist art shippers experienced in the safe transport of paintings and sculpture. Every work is professionally crated or packed and insured for its full value in transit. Shipping is arranged on a case-by-case basis and discussed at the time of purchase.

In many cases, yes — and appropriate conservation can significantly improve both the appearance and the long-term stability of a work. We always assess restoration potential carefully and will advise on what is appropriate for any specific work. We can recommend specialist art conservators experienced in the relevant period and medium, and we will document any conservation that has previously been carried out.

Hang paintings away from direct sunlight and sources of heat or humidity. Do not lean or stack unframed works. For sculpture, dust with a soft brush and handle with clean, dry hands. We recommend against amateur cleaning of paintings — surface cleaning is a specialist task that is easily done incorrectly. We are happy to provide care guidance specific to any work in the collection.
