Pair of Retro Period Platinum and Diamond Dress Clips

This pair of diamond set 'spiral' form dress clips date to the Retro period and are likely Continental in origin. The pair are symmetrical and are designed to be clipped over the edge of a dress or blazer, hence the name 'dress clips'. Each of the clips are mounted with 84 single cut diamonds which are grain set in the handmade platinum frames. To the rear each dress clip has a sprung hinged clip meaning they both lock into place when attached to a garment. Dress clips were popular during the interwar period and the Retro period of the 1940s and 1950s, with this pair likely dating to the late 1930s. Whilst it is hard to be sure of the origin of the pair, it is very likely that they were manufactured in Continental Europe and were undoubtedly worn by a very elegant woman of the period. The clips are in lovely condition for their age with some minor wear to the platinum, expected with age and use. A gorgeous addition to a black evening dress or the edge of a lady's blazer.
